PROPERTY KALKAN

Fethiye

Kalkan

The historic town of Kalkan is an enchanting place and one of the most beautiful locations along Turkey's gorgeous Lycian Coast.   With the absence of mass tourism, Kalkan remains a charming and unspoiled haven of lush nature, brilliant blue crystal-clear sea, historic architecture, ancient history and warm traditional Turkish hospitality.

Nestled on the south west coast of Turkey lies Kalkan, an idyllic fishing village with a marina of yachts, gulets and fishing boats. The pebbled beach is a small strip towards the end of the bay. Kalkan really is a charming unspoilt village with white villas covered in bougainvillaea, winding cobbled streets, roof terrace bars and harbourside restaurants. The village offers a delightful blend of eating, drinking and shopping and is completely pedestrianised at night as the cafes fill with laughter and spill onto the streets creating a wonderfully warm atmosphere.

Letoon

Letoon was the sacred cult center of Lycia, its most important sanctuary, and was dedicated to the three national deities of Lycia - Leto and her twin children Apollo and Artemis. Leto was also worshiped as a family deity and as the guardian of the tomb.

Xanthos-Letoon is one of the most remarkable archaeological sites in Turkey. For this reason, it has been registered in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list.

Letoon is a romantic site and many of the monuments arise from standing water which provides lush vegetation.  Terrapins and frogs are usually seen.

Patara

Patara was the major naval and trading port of Lycia , located at the mouth of the Xanthos River . It is not far from the sites of Letoon and Xanthos and a day trip from Kalkan, Kaş or Fethiye could easily combine the sites.  Beautiful 12 km-long Patara Beach , voted one of the top beaches in the world by Times Online - Best of 2005, is an easy 10-15 minute stroll away from the major ruins at Patara.

Patara was frequently called "the chosen city" and "the metropolis of the Lycian nation." In Christian history Patara is famous for being a place of St. Paul's missionary work at the end of his third missionary journey as he changed ships en route to Jerusalem.  Patara was also the birthplace of St. Nicholas (born c.260-280 AD), bishop of Myra and the future Santa Claus.  In Byzantine times, Patara became a Titular see of Lycia and a suffragan of Myra.

Kaş

Delightfully situated among towering vertical cliffs, Kas is the region's second major resort, and although lacking in idyllic stretches of beach, the dramatic rocky coastline creates easy access to clear and unpolluted Mediterranean waters; and an abundance of outdoor activities, and a lively nightlife have maintained its reputation as a satisfying holiday destination.

Göcek

A delightful fishing and yachting port, Göcek lies on a bay at the foot of the mountains about 18 km. from Fethiye. With it's modern marina Göcek is the perfect base for anyone whose main interest is yachting.
  Dalaman
Dalaman is an area of natural beauty. It is located between the sea and mountains and benifits from its proximity to many areas of interest both historical and geographic (e.g., Dalyan mud baths, ancient tombs etc). Dalaman is rapidy becoming an area of destination rather than just a stop over on the way to some other resort town.
