Kalkan

A small peaceful Mediterranean resort and fishing town on the beautiful turquoise coast of Turkey, Kalkan has remained untouched by mass tourism. A sophisticated resort town, Kalkan appeals to travellers looking for more than a ‘sun and sea’ holiday. Due to its charm, Kalkan has a growing number of perennial visitors who say that the town is the only holiday destination they would choose to visit repeatedly.

There is simply no other town along Turkey’s coast quite like Kalkan. Kalkan curls snuggly around an ancient harbour, sheltering at the foot of the towering Taurus mountains, and  overlooks a beautiful bay in which islands seem to magically float upon the shimmering sea. Narrow streets twist down to the harbour through the historic town and are lined with white washed villas, with shuttered windows ,alongside small local speciality shops and restaurants. Kalkan has become home to the more discerning overseas buyer.

Letoon

Letoon was the cult centre of Alexander the Great and  dedicated to the three national deities of Lycia - Leto and her twin children Apollo and Artemis. Leto was also worshiped as a family deity and as the guardian of the tomb.

Now Partially flooded the evocative ruins are a peaceful sanctuary  for wildlife. Xanthos-Letoon is one of the most remarkable archaeological sites in Turkey and  has been registered in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list. İt is  quite spectacular and  includes superb examples of Lycian tombs.

Patara

Patara was the major naval and trading port of Lycia , located at the mouth of the Xanthos River . It is not far from the sites of Letoon and Xanthos and a day trip from Kalkan, Kaş or Fethiye could easily combine them.  Beautiful 12 km-long Patara Beach , voted one of the top beaches in the world by Times Online - Best of 2005, is an easy 10-15 minute stroll away from the major ruins at Patara.

Patara was frequently called "the chosen city" and "the metropolis of the Lycian nation." In Christian history Patara is also famous for its role in  St. Paul's missionary work  as he changed ships here when his work was over, en route to Jerusalem.  Patara was also the birthplace of St. Nicholas (born c.260-280 AD), bishop of Myra and the future Santa Claus.

Kaş

Delightfully situated among towering vertical cliffs, Kas is the region's second major resort. While it may lack stretches of sandy beach, the dramatic  coastline has numerous rocky outcrops which give easy access to the clear and unpolluted Mediterranean waters.

There is an abundance of outdoor activities to enjoy, and at night the  bars and restaurants along the front become quite lively with the clients from the many sailing boats stopping over ,making Kas a superb holiday destination.

Göcek, one of the most beautiful ports on the south west coast of Turkey. is approximately 22kms east of Dalaman International Airport, and 35kms west of the main town of Fethiye. There are three stunning marinas capable of holding up to 1500 yachts .

The quaint cobbled streets of the town are pedestrianised and boast an astonishing  number of quality souvenir and designer shops. Dalaman is an area of natural beauty, located between the sea and mountains and is home to the main airport of the area. Its proximity to many areas of interest  ie the mud baths at Dalyan and the ancient tombs and the beautiful Sarıgerme beach to name just three, means that Dalaman is rapidy becoming an area of destination rather than just a stop over  en route to another resort town. The first of 3 golf courses planned for the region is here and will open up the area for year round tourism.
